Catching up with God

(by a Christian who’s still wet behind the ears)

About my journey

with one comment

I’m a newly baptized (12/22/08 ) Christian attending the Church of Christ.

This blog is where I’m detailing my thoughts about church services and the fellowship I’m sharing.

Please don’t assume that anything I say is “official doctrine”– I’m still learning!

I grew up with sporadic attendance in the Assembly of God church in my hometown, drifted away in my teens, and was downright angry and unhappy with the Church (I mean, all of Christianity) and looking for “answers” in my 20′s.

I met some good Christians during that time, and while I was curious about “what they had” I never made the connection between that serene, deep, awesome peace and the faith out of which it grew. I continued to deal in denial until, well, it’s a funny story. I played EverQuest, and one of my friends there had worked his way into my heart. He had that same serene feel, and finally one day we were talking and he told me he was a Christian.

I poured my heart out to him that day. I asked every “why” question in the world. I begged, I pleaded, I explained that sometimes I get mad at God for stuff that goes wrong, that I didn’t think I was good enough, and all the excuses in the book.

And he told me to listen to my heart, and I did– and I gave my heart to God, that day, in the West Commonlands on Norrath. Let the skeptics doubt! God can make water come from a rock, can make food fall out of the sky, and if He wants one of His children to be saved in the middle of a roleplaying game? IT WILL HAPPEN. Praise Him!
